7 Coachella Hacks for Coachella 2020

It’s that time of the year again music lovers! Coachella weekend 1 is less than a week away. To most people that have attended this prestigious music festival would agree with the following statement:

“Coachella is more than just a music festival, it’s a cultural event that draws celebrities, floods social media feeds and sparks trends in fashion.” – Forbes

Coachella 2017

For me, it was a life-changing experience and by no means am I trying to sound cliché. I’ve been an active event goer for more than a decade and attended most of the music festivals hosted on the West Coast. However, none of them could top Coachella. 2016 was the year I had my cherry popped for Coachella. I had such an inimitable time during weekend 1 that I decided I had to attend weekend 2. Anyway, enough reminiscing memories of my experience. Here are some hacks for you in case you are lucky enough to attend this year’s Coachella Music Festival.

When it comes to crucial Coachella hacks, the most obvious one is clear: Water.

Many attendees forget Indio, California is a desert and temperature in the daytime during April often passes 100 degrees. Luckily, Coachella now offers free refill water stations to keep everybody hydrated.

Which brings us to hack #2: Sun Protection

No one is against dancing and shuttling in the Sun while your favorite artist or band is performing. However, did you know that skin cancer is by far the most common type of cancer? Don’t believe me?

Although, I already knew hack #1 and #2. But I didn’t anticipate hack #3 and it was a painful experience

(no pun intended).

Hack #3: Comfortable Shoes

I cannot stress enough the importance of comfy apparel at Coachella. Remember this is a three day and night event with lots of physical activities: dancing, shuffling, walking, walking, and walking and more walking. Hence, a comfortable outfit is a must, especially when it comes to your shoes. As you can see from the image, I was wearing a pair of running shoes that I THOUGHT it was comfortable enough to last me for three days. Sadly, I was wrong and had to call for help. Fortunately, ADA Staff at Coachella were like angels and gave me a ride back to my vehicle. Unintentionally, this brings us to hack #4.

Hack #4: ADA

First and foremost, I am only sharing hack #4 for excruciating occasions that you or people in your group are suffering unbearable pain. It’s not meant to be exploited by healthy and lazy people. Yes, ADA Staff will arrange rides for people that are in need.

Hack #5: Always Tip Bicycle-Taxi and Food Services

From what I’ve learned, people that work at Coachella Music Festival in the transportation and food services are the ones with the real hacks. Just show them respect and appreciation with some monetary incentives. That’s how I ended up with a staff camping pass.

Hack #6: Document Your Coachella Music Festival Journey

The phrase “picture/video or it didn’t happen”, it’s truer now than ever. After I acquired a staff camping wrist band, I had the permission to enter an area most people didn’t know existed. I hung out with some famous people and celebrities. However, when I tried to share my story with my friends, they didn’t believe me. Good thing I took pictures so I could shut them up. @vickibaybeee

Print them out and put them on your walls. It’s not often you get to meet famous and people you follow on IG. I sure did.

Hack #7: Mouth Cover and Bandanna

Last but not least, Coachella flu is a real deal. Once the sun goes down, the wind picks up along with dust and sand. Which becomes extremely hard to breathe and see. Therefore, I would recommend that everyone bring something to soak it with water to prevent Coachella flu.
